Milan Kundera, the author of "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" whose dark, provocative novels delved into the enigma of the human condition, has died, a spokeswoman for the Milan Kundera Library in his native city of Brno said on Wednesday. He was 94.

Former President and incumbent Opposition Parliamentarian Maithripala Sirisena has filed a motion in the Supreme Court (SC) requesting that he be allowed to pay Rs. 85 million (Mn) of the Rs. 100 million compensation ordered to be paid to the victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks and their families, in 10 installments of Rs. 8.5 million each, from 30 June 2024 to 20 June 2033. Sirisena has already paid Rs. 15 million.
