The post of police chief remains vacant from June 25, when C.D. Wickramaratne completed his three-month service extension.
Since then, either giving him another term or appointing a new IGP remains undecided.
Last Thursday, president Ranil Wickremesinghe and public security minister Tiran Alles discussed the matter, where the latter was told to make a decision.
A senior official at the Presidential Secretariat said a decision will be finalized at yet another meeting between the two tomorrow (09).
Wickramaratne, who was appointed the IGP in 2020, was not accorded a farewell parade on the last day in office.
