The accountant of Randenigala Distilleries in Kaduwela, W. Roshan, has been released on a Rs. 1,350 million surety in a tax-evasion case.
The bond money is equal to the sum the company had defaulted on VAT income and nation-building tax payments between 2012 and 2015.
The accused was produced before Colombo additional magistrate Bandara Ilangasinghe yesterday (29) in a case filed by the commissioner of inland revenue.
The accused company has filed a writ petition in the court of appeal.
