Buddhist monk Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera charges that certain lawyers are influencing preventive efforts against crime and drugs.
Speaking to the media at Abayaramaya Temple in Narahenpita yesterday (29), he said minister Tiran Alles and the IGP have launched a new effort to curb these vices.
Crimes should be halted by using any means, he said, adding that certain lawyers are working against it.
Lawyers should stick to their duties, while the police will do theirs, said the monk.
Anyway, police should refrain from misusing the powers given, he added.
