A state minister has played havoc at the Katunayake airport, assaulting a porter, threatening security officers and taking their pictures.
According to 'Lankadeepa', Prasanna Ranaweera is reportedly the politician in question, who arrived with his armed bodyguards to see off his wife in the early hours of 14 May.
According to airport sources, he had tried to enter the airport without buying entry passes.
Airport security said they cannot allow his bodyguards to carry weapons inside the airport.
The state minister then abused them and took pictures of two security officers.
Also, a porter who carried his wife’s baggage got underpaid.
When he requested his full payment, the government politician trampled on his leg, slapped him and left the airport with his bodyguards.
Fearing further trouble, the assaulted worker has not lodged a complaint with the police.
