Dayasiri Jayasekara has been invited back to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) with an offer of its senior deputy chairman position.
Party leader Maithripala Sirisena asked Jayasekara to his home last Wednesday and requested him to return to the party.
He said the charge-sheet against him will be withdrawn in such an eventuality.
However, Jayasekara declined to accept any posting other than the general secretary position, from which he was ousted.
Sirisena turned it down, noting that Dushmantha Mithrapala has already been appointed to that position.
