Two floating solar pilot projects with financial and technical assistance from Korea will be completed by July, said power minister Kanchana Wijesekara.
The two projects of one megawatt each are located at Chandrika Wewa in Embilipitiya and Kiri Ibban Wewa in Sevanagala.
However, environment activist Sajeewa Chamika said required permission has not been obtained for the projects as per the national environment act.
The leasing agreement too, is against the law, he told BBC Sinhala Service.
People have complained to the Human Rights Commission highlighting adverse impact to fishermen, farmers and water consumers from the two projects.
