Patali Champika Ranawaka has declared his readiness to take up the challenge as a candidate at the presidential polls.
The leader of United Republic Party said so during Derana TV’s ‘360’ political talk-show yesterday (19).
He referred to the past where he always allied for a common cause rather than for a personal objective, in which his role was deemed insignificant for him.
Similarly, Ranawaka said, he will contribute this time too, for a common cause and any qualified candidate will have his support.
If the alliance that will be formed, including his URF, believes him to be that candidate, he said, he was prepared to take up that challenge.
This time, the important thing is the programme for the country, not the candidate, he added.
