URF leader Patali Champika Ranawaka has spoken about the existence of a political underworld in the country.

Speaking to the media yesterday (02), he referred to the CID’s questioning him under the PTA over his warning about the possibility of violence in the run-up to the presidential polls.

Ranawaka said his prediction was based on how Mahinda Rajapaksa gave money to the LTTE to change the election result in 2005.

He said further that 12 persons stand accused of not acting to prevent Easter Sunday attacks despite being issued with prior warning.

Disciplinary and court action should be taken against the accused, who include a former president, incumbent president and IGP and several DIGs, he said.

The URF leader added that he was against the conduct of the police as a personal militia of the public security minister.
