A UNDP report has highlighted the wealth equality in Sri Lanka, said NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa.

According to the report, a 10 per cent of the wealthiest enjoy 64 pc of the national revenue, while 50 pc in the lowest rung claim a mere four pc, he said.

Speaking to the media, Weerawansa stressed the need to formulate the tax policy to match that serious disparity in wealth.

Disregard to that by burdening the masses with indirect taxes will deny the poor even their four pc of the national revenue, he noted.
