A trade union leader has accused health authorities of intentionally creating crises in the health sector in order to cover up their own wrongdoings.

Ravi Kumudesh, head of the association of health professionals, speaking to the media today (10), referred to the doubling of the disturbance, availability and transport allowance for doctors.

“Anyone knows that protests happen when a particular sector in the health service gets preferential treatment”, he said.

“When the health minister is a doctor by profession, his interventions become biased. Otherwise, there is no room for such a decision to be taken,” he said.

Kumudesh said top health officials are not suited to hold office, and what they do is dance to the tunes of political bidding to go higher up in their positions.

He doubted if doctors got a raised allowance for having supported a cover up of frauds in the health service.

The government still had time to correct its wrong, he said, adding that it should resolve the matter through negotiations without allowing it to aggravate further.
