SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has told the president and the cabinet to immediately announce their stand with regard to the water issue of drought-hit farmers and other consumers.
Addressing a party event in Bingiriya, Rajapaksa said the drought has affected farmers especially in the southern, eastern, north central and north western provinces.
Since the president was appointed by the SLPP, the party wants to hear his and his cabinet’s solutions to this, he said.
Pointing out that Wickremesinghe had attended the global summit on climate change, the MP said aid could be sought from its member nations for Sri Lanka.
He also urged the leaders of the SJB and the NPP to make a combined practical approach without confining themselves to mere criticism.
