The Inter-University Alumni Collective for Democracy (IUACD) has alleged a systematic attack on democracy in the country.
In statement, it said the rulers were openly destroying democracy and human rights while pushing the country further into calamity.
The IUACD said it was their responsibility and obligation to raise public awareness and oppose this.
Its statement referred to the postponement of the local government polls for the 22nd time, threats to the independence of the judiciary, use of the police and the military as well as paramilitaries against the public, restrictions to political freedom.
The IUACD urged all citizens to unite and fashion a mandate against this situation.
