Once again, survey department officials had to withdraw from charting a LTTE cemetery at Alampil in Mullaitivu due to objections raised by Tamils of the area.

The Army has been occupying the premises for 15 years.

On 02 May, an attempt was made to survey a plot of more than two hectares belonging to one person, who had consented to sell it to the Army.

But, Tamils say they should own it.

According to former northern provincial councilor Thurairasa Raviharan, around 300 LTTE members are buried at the place.
