Today (21) marks the fifth anniversary of the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
Commemorative events began with a mass at St. Anthony’s Church, Kochchikade yesterday afternoon.
Auxiliary bishop of Colombo Anton Ranjith presided at the event attended by relatives of the victims of the attacks.
From Kochchikade, a night-long march took place to Katuwapitiya church.
On 21 April 2019, a series of bombings targeting three churches and three hotels killing 269 and injuring more than 269 others.
Police media spokesman Nihal Talduwa said security has been provided to churches where commemoratives event take place.
