A consumer rights group has paid a respectful tribute to URF leader Patali Champika Ranawaka for having exposed traders who amass undue profits.
For the first time, Ranawaka, as chair of the parliamentary wans and means committee, and other members made the revelations, said Asela Sampath, head of the national consumers front.
After meeting with Ranawaka, he spoke to the media and urged the government to protect consumers from errant traders during the festive season.
Sampath noted the silence of the opposition over consumer woes, and expressed doubts if they are getting funded by such traders.
If that is not so, both Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake should come forward and oppose them, he added.
