Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has vowed to raise a voice on behalf of senior citizens until the interest on their savings is raised again to 15 per cent per annum.
He said he moved a proposal in parliament in that regard, drawing the attention of all politicians to the plight of the elderly.
Premadasa was speaking after handing over a smart classroom to Ehetugaswewa Vidyalaya in Mullaitivu yesterday (04).
A civilized society should protect, safeguard, look after and provide facilities required by senior citizens, he noted.
