Wimal Weerawansa’s SLC has decided to support the no-confidence motion that is to be moved against speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
The MPs of the party took the decision at a meeting last night (26).
Signature collection for the SJB-led no-faith motion began earlier on the day.
It alleges Abeywardena had violated the constitution by endorsing the online safety act without introducing the amendments as ordered by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, SLPP leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said at the party headquarters that they would defeat the no-confidence motion.
