Survey department officials had to withdraw from charting a LTTE cemetery at Alampil in Mullaitivu due to objections raised by Tamils of the area.
The Army has been occupying the premises for 15 years.
Fourteen villagers signed a letter that was handed over to the surveyors, asking that the four-acre plot where their relatives are buried be not surveyed or taken over.
According to former northern provincial councilor Thurairasa Raviharan, around 800 LTTE members are buried at the place.
