MP Dullas Alahapperuma has urged the speaker and the prime minister to guarantee the safety of colleague Roshan Ranasinghe, whose life is in serious danger after being ousted from the cabinet.
Alahaperuma told parliament yesterday (28) that it was a world’s first that a people’s representative has received death threats from the executive.
Speaking further, he said two institutions representative of the people have been rendered completely inactive, which has dealt a death knell for democracy.
The MP accused the government of attempting to further delay holding elections in the name of electoral reforms.
