Sinhala fishermen have been poaching in the seas off Mullaitivu using illegal methods, it is alleged.
The group of around 10 has taken shelter in temporary huts on the Kokkutuduvai beach for around three months now, charged Tamil fishermen.
They are ignoring an order by the area’s divisional secretariat via the grama officer to leave.
It is believed they have come from Puttalam of Chilaw, and also that a Buddhist monk is behind their poaching.
