The budget for 2024 has been one made in dreamland and is unrealistic, said MP Patali Champika Ranawaka.
He told a media briefing organized by his United Republic Party that last year’s customs, excise and inland revenue earning targets had a 20 per cent shortfall.
How can it be believed therefore that the three institutions would earn Rs. 3,800 billion in 2024? he asked.
Furthermore, it is certain that credit from international lending institutions will not be received as expected, said Ranawaka.
Politburo chief of the party Karu Paranawithana and national organizer Sumedha Ratnayake too, addressed the media gathering.
