Mount Lavinia Magistrate Kosala Senadheera yesterday (29) ordered that Ravi Seneviratne, a former SDIG of the Criminal Investigation Department, who was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol
and causing an accident, be remanded until November 01.
The former SDIG had been arrested by the Police for causing a collision with multiple vehicles while driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday night.
While driving his car from Bambalapitiya towards Dehiwala, his vehicle had collided with a Wagon R car and a bus parked at the Marine Drive in Wellawatta.
The Wellawatta Police told the court in a B report that it was confirmed that the former SDIG was intoxicated during a test to detect whether he was under the influence of alcohol and the Magistrate gave this order rejecting the bail request made by his lawyer.
