CCTV cameras have been installed in the vicinity of the suspected mass gravesite at Kokkutuduvai in Mullaitivu.
The district hospital’s JMO Kanagasabapathi Vasudeva said this followed a request by him to the district secretariat for protection for the place.
With excavations remaining suspended at the gravesite, Dr. Vasudeva said the work would resume in a week’s time as two-week’s requirement of funds are available.
When work was suspended on 15 September, forensic archaeologist Prof. Raj Somadeva said they needed a break to analyze the evidence found so far.
Seventeen skeletal remains, including those believed to be female LTTE members, were unearthed within a space of nine days.
