Sri Lanka will receive 20 train engines decommissioned by India, said the Department of Railways.
India has taken the decision as it moves towards the use of electric trains.
The Department of Railways has decided to send a technical team to India in order to find out whether the locomotives are suitable for use in Sri Lanka.
