SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa told a meeting in Ranna that the rural economy should be developed to a level capable of impacting the nation’s economy.
There should especially be a programme to uplift the domestic economies within villages by raising production.
In this regard, the SLPP and its affiliate parties will submit proposals to be included in the budget, he said.
Also, they will propose the continuation of the Samurdhi allowance for at least another year, until the full application of Aswesuma.
The hurried manner of the latter’s implementation has caused injustice to some, said Rajapaksa.
