Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has found it extremely hilarious that those who sent the country into bankruptcy now speak of rebuilding it.
Speaking yesterday (30) to Grama Officers about ‘Aswesuma’ programme at his office, he said the country cannot be revived without the government stopping its political game of lies, fraud, corruption etc.
Premadasa said the government was not concerned if ‘Aswesuma’ was a success or not, and was now focused on the next election.
Failure of the programme was due to a survey not being held first to correctly determine the poverty line and to identify the real beneficiaries, he noted.
Other social security programmes in the country, too, are in a complete mix-up, the opposition leader added.
