A protest was organized in Mannar town yesterday (30) to coincide with the international day for victims of enforced disappearances.
Relatives of the war-missing from Vavuniya, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Tricomalee, Jaffna and Ampara took part with a fresh call for justice for their loved ones still unaccounted for.
They said it was sad that a government promise in that regard was yet to be realized.
A similar demonstration took place in Batticaloa, where participants said they had no faith in the Office for Missing Persons and other state agencies, and sought mediation by the International Human Rights Council.
Representatives of NGOs and MPs Selvam Addaikkalanathan and Vino Noharalingam were among those who attended.
