Without having the services of a specialist doctor at its pediatric cardiac catheterization unit, the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle has been forced to send its patients to Lady Ridgeway Hospital for children in Borella for tests.
Failure to conduct these costly tests on time endangers the lives of the patients.
A hospital official said one specialist at the unit had migrated, while the other has left for training.
Parents request authorities to appoint a specialist to the unit in order to avoid risks to the lives of their children who get treated there.
