A warning of strong action has been issued against any official found to have sexually abused female housekeepers attached to parliament.

Secretary general of parliament Kushani Rohanadeera also said an investigation committee is carrying out its duties impartially.

Three senior female officers comprise the committee that looks into media reports late last month that claim instances of sexual abuse of parliament’s female housekeepers.

One of the accused has been interdicted, she said, adding that the alleged victims could contact the committee members personally or via telephone or by email.

An internal circular has advised them to also reach the secretary general or the assistant secretary general of parliament if necessary.
