Excavations at the alleged mass grave site at Kokkutuduvai in Mullaitivu have been put off indefinitely owing to a lack of funding.

The Presidential Secretariat is yet to release the Rs. 1.2 million cost per two weeks, as estimated by the Archaeology Department.

JMO of Mullaitivu district hospital Kanagasabapati Vasudeva informed courts on 17 August that excavations could not begin on 21 August as scheduled.

The OMP told Mullaitivu district court judge T. Pradeepan on 08 August the Presidential Secretariat would fund the excavation work at Kokkutuduvai gravesite.
