Untrained teachers are a main reason for the failures in primary education, claimed education minister Susil Premajayantha.
Addressing the prize giving of Sirimavo Bandaranaike College, he said a successful primary education was crucial for secondary and tertiary education.
Premajayantha said his ministry was updating the primary educational opportunities that were missed during the coronavirus pandemic.
He called for full commitment by teachers, and promised to give practicable solutions to issues in the education sector on a daily basis.
The minister said he aimed to bring about a big transformation in education next year that enables children to go global.
From 2024, all examinations would be held on schedule, he promised further.
