Nearly 150 victims of aerial bombings on a church and a kovil in Navali in Jaffna in 1995 have been remembered.
Relatives and area residents gathered for the remembrance at St. Peter’s Church on 09 July, where a mass took place and floral and other tributes paid for the dead.
Exactly 28 years ago, men, women and children seeking shelter from the war were killed in Air Force attacks on the religious places, where they had gathered on a notification by the military.
According to reports by the north east human rights bureau, 155 bodies had been recovered following the attacks.
The two religious places and around 30 houses were badly damaged as well.
