Former health minister and SJB MP Rajitha Senaratne says he is not blind to deny that president Ranil Wickremesinghe revived the economy from the low brought about by the SLPP.
He was speaking to the media at the opposition leader’s office in Colombo yesterday (06.) Senaratne said the question today was about rebuilding the country, and not about leaving the party.
Referring to recent remarks by certain of his colleagues that they would not leave the SJB, he said he was not prepared to make such statements.
“I have self-confidence. I have a political vision. I take decisions accordingly,” said Senaratne.
He said he had no intention of joining the government on his own, and said the president should first extend a general invitation to rebuild the country which could be considered.
A political decision is unavoidable only if the party is not prepared to extend support, he added.
