Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has sought an urgent meeting with president Ranil Wickremesinghe as it alleges continued harassment by the sports ministry.

Writing to the president on 02 November, head of SLC Shammi Silva said the day-to-day operations and the professional conduct of SLC are being greatly affected.

He said he is seeking an appointment with the president to appraise him of several critical matters and to get some direction to update the ICC in turn in order to commence the SLC’s physical preparations to fulfill its commitments.

A copy of the letter has also been sent to sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

Sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe too, has sent a letter to Wickrememesinghe, saying top SLC officials are being accused of grave fraud and corruption.

Their allegations against the ministry are baseless and false, he wrote.

SLC asked to resign

On 03 November, Ranasinghe said in a statement the SLC and selectors should take full responsibility for Sri Lanka’s humiliating defeats at the ongoing World Cup.

Questioning their ethic of continuation in office, the minister demanded their immediate resignation without forcing him into stern action.
