Female weightlifter Jayarukshi Samankula has won three medals for Sri Lanka at the international weightlifting championship in Singapore.
Born on May 27, 1991 in Ragama, she has an elder brother and younger sister.
She is married to an aviation engineer in Dubai and lives there.
Speaking to BBC Sinhala Service, Jayarukshi said she won bronze in three events at lifestyle model and sports model categories at the Singapore championship.
Around 35 competitors from a number of countries participated.
Jayarukshi said she aspires to represent the country at an Olympia weightlifting competition.
Further, she expects to obtain a license to function as a personal weightlifting instructor in Dubai.
