The world football governing body FIFA has lifted the suspension on the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) with immediate effect.
In a statement Fatma Samoura, the General Secretary of FIFA, said the decision was taken by the Bureau of FIFA Council after the FFSL had met the criteria that were laid out for the lifting of the sanction.
FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation will continue to monitor the situation until the elections for a new FFSL executive committee on 29 September, it also said.
FIFA imposed the ban on 21 January 2023 due to government interference.
