B-Love Kandy were crowned LPL 2023 champions after they overcame Dambulla aura by five wickets in the final at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo last night (20).
Winning the toss and batting first, Dambulla posted 147 for four, with Dhananjaya de Silva making 40 not out.
Sadeera Samarawickrama (36) and Kusal Perera (31 not out) too, made useful contributions.
In bowling for Kandy, Chaturanga de Silva captured two wickets.
Replying, Kandy reached 151 for five in 19.5 overs to win the LPL for the first time.
Kamindu Mendis made 44 off 37 deliveries.
In bowling for Dambulla, Noor Ahmed captured three wickets.
Player of the final was Angelo Mathews, while Wanindu Hasaranga was player of the series.
