A Muslim youth from Kalmunai is being detained for questioning on a charge of promoting extremist beliefs.
Mohamed Munaz has posted a facebook message, which says, “Not only in Sri Lanka, all the Christian temples in the world should be completely destroyed!’- Allahu Akbar!”, which has since recorded nearly 100 shares.
According to the police, Munaz had made a similar fb posting in 2018.
On a tip-off given by the Army intelligence, the TID took him into custody on 24 September and obtained an order to detain him for 90 days.
A welder by profession and living at Pottuvil, he has been identified by intelligence officials as a person heavily involved with wahhabism.
