Three opposition MPs left for Bangkok, Thailand in the early hours of this morning (27) in a bid to save Sri Lankans being held in Ukraine and Myanmar.

They are carrying letters by the chief prelates of the three Buddhist chapters and the opposition leader calling for their release.

J.C. Alawathuwala, Wasantha Yapa Bandara and Sujith Sanjaya Perera will spend five days each in the two countries and will try through diplomatic channels to bring the Lankans home.

An estimated 49 youths are being held hostage by computer criminals in Myanmar.

Also, many former Sri Lankan soldiers are caught up in the war between Russia and Ukraine in a major job scam.
