Justice minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the Office on Missing Persons (OMP) in recent times.
An inspection of investigation statistics showed that only 62 complaints had been investigated, he said, adding the OMP has now been told to speed up its work.
Rajapakshe was speaking at a workshop on proposed guidelines for the OMP.
According to him, the OMP has inquired into 5,600 out of 14,700 complaints it received so far.
It has been instructed to complete investigations into the balance complaints by the end of 2025, he added.
