Attempts at removing Deshabandu Tennakoon from his position of the IGP are intended at sabotaging the ‘Yukthiya’ operation, claimed public security minister Tiran Alles.
He was speaking at the launch in Vavuniya of an emergency call centre dedicated to Tamil-speaking people especially in the northern and eastern provinces.
The hotline 107 has been introduced under presidential instructions.
Speaking further, Alles said certain lawyers, NGOs, powerful people and foreign powers are campaigning against Tennakoon.
Despite any pressure, what has to be done would be done, he vowed.
The underworld and drugs would be eliminated by any means, good or bad, he added.
