The Movement for a Just Society has called upon all parties to declare their stand on the executive presidency.
Addressing a seminar on the matter, its chairman Karu Jayasuriya
said a vast majority of the people are supportive of abolishing the executive presidency.
Recent opinion surveys indicate that around 87 per cent wanted that position annulled.
Now, they had a right to know the stand of each and every political party in that regard, he said.
According to him, the executive presidency had a positive side as well as various shortcomings.
