Public security minister Tiran Alles has requested the Colombo archbishop and the Catholic Church to extend support to ensure justice for victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.
At a workshop on community police committees, the minister promised to punish those responsible for the series of bomb attacks irrespective of their positions.
“The archbishop has criticized remarks made by me about the attacks. I asked him and the Catholic Church to assist in ensuring justice for all Catholics. I ask them to give us any information they have, which we don’t.”
Ministry secretary Vianni Gunatilake, acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon and other senior officials attended the workshop.
