The cabinet has approved amendments to the penal code to make sexual abuse of boys a criminal offence.
At a meeting on 24 January, ministers also decided to rectify shortcomings in laws relating to rapes of women.
The attorney general has cleared the relevant draft formulated by the legal draftsman.
Once gazetted, it will be tabled in parliament for approval, as per cabinet consent given to a paper submitted by the justice minister.
