Troubles and pains in the past need to be forgotten for the sake of a better future and to rebuild lives, said MP Patali Champika Ranawaka.

He conceded that he too, got involved in clashes in the past and acted in hatred, which he would now overlook to ensure a future for children.

Addressing a meeting of the United Republic Front in Batticaloa, he said Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims should forgive for what had happened in the past and go forward as one towards a single objective.

Ranawaka also stressed the importance of empowering youths to hand over the country to a generation full of talents.

He went onto say that capitalism or socialism had no place in his party which gives place for talent only.
