Remembrances have been organized by upcountry Tamils in memory of their heroes who fell while fighting to win their livelihood and other rights.

One event took place at Jaffna University.

Another happened at Commercial Lake in Kotagala, where a torch was lit at 3.30 pm to remember the dead heroes.

January 10th is considered a remembrance day after upcountry Tamil Govindan was shot dead by police sergeant Suraweera at Muloya on that day 84 years ago.

Malaiyaha Irimaikural and Pidithalarathe are the two organizations holding the annual remembrance.
