The SJB’s youth organizer for Kurunegala is among three suspects sent into remand custody for alleged drug trafficking.
Identified as Amitha Bandara Chandrasekara, 35, he and the others were produced before the Kegalle acting magistrate yesterday (26) and remanded for 14 days.
They were kept detained after their arrest on 19 December in Rambukkana upon finding 700 g of ice from a couple in a car.
Under interrogation, they had given details of the SJB activist, who was taken into custody while travelling in a Prado jeep.
A search of the vehicle netted 800 g of heroin and more than Rs. one million in cash.
