Western nations led by the US have registered their strong objections against Iranian private airline Mahan Air starting flights to Sri Lanka.
Started in 1991, the airline has a fleet of 32 planes to operate services to 44 destinations in 10 countries.
The US, Germany, France, Syria, Italy, Spain and several other countries have banned the airline.
In 2011, the US named it as a facilitator of material and transport for Iranian terrorism.
