Around 2,000 teen mothers have been reported so far this year to make it a serious social and legal issue, said the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA).
Police reports show 10 pregnancies among young girls in November alone, said NCPA chairman Udaya Kumara Amarasinghe.
Speaking to the media, he said awareness should be raised among children to prevent their victimization to sexual abuse.
